Dr. Hussain Al-Shammasi

Biography

Dr. Hussain Alshammasi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance. He holds a PhD in Environmental Policy (with economics concentration) from Duke University (2020). His research interest is in environmental and energy economics. Dr. Hussain has expertise in policy impact evaluations, and uses experimental and quasi-experimental econometric methods. His research experience includes designing and implementing field experiments in energy and labor economics. While at Duke University, he was a Doctoral Student Fellow at the Duke Energy Initiative, and a Duke Environmental Impacts Fellow at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions. Dr. Hussain also holds a master’s degree in Economics from Duke University (2015) and a bachelor’s degree in finance from KBS-KFUPM with the first honors distinction (2012).
