Dr. Mahbub Zaman

Biography

Dr. Zaman is a Professor of Accounting at the KFUPM Business School (KBS), King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). His teaching and research interests span corporate governance, auditing, sustainability, and corporate reporting.

His research has appeared in leading international journals, including Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Journal of Business Ethics, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, British Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives in Accounting, Corporate Governance: An International Review, International Journal of Auditing, Journal of Management & Governance, Business Strategy and the Environment, and Journal of Accounting Literature.

Ranked in the global Top 1% in Accounting, Sustainability, and Governance research (and Top 0.12% in Auditing) by ScholarGPS Global, Dr. Zaman has published extensively and accumulated more than 6,300 citations on Google Scholar. He has supervised over 17 PhD students and examined more than 40 PhD theses at leading universities worldwide.

Dr. Zaman has been invited to deliver lectures and seminars at more than 20 universities globally, including EM Lyon (France), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), IE Business School (Spain), Stockholm School of Economics (Finland), Ghent University (Belgium), and major Australian universities such as UNSW, UWA, Monash, Macquarie, and Curtin. He also holds visiting and honorary professorships at universities across Australia, Canada, Denmark, Malaysia, New Zealand, and the United States.

He has held senior academic positions including Director of the PhD Programme at Alliance Manchester Business School, UK, and full/associate professor roles at the University of Manchester (UK), Queensland University of Technology (Australia), University of Hull (UK), and Aarhus University (Denmark).

In addition to his research, Dr. Zaman has contributed significantly to academic leadership and professional service. He has served as University Senate Member, Head of Department, Head of School Research, and Director of Early Career Academics. He is also an Executive Member and Treasurer of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Committee of Professors (BAFA-CPAF).

He serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Auditing, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, and Journal of Management and Governance. He has also acted as an external examiner for academic programs at universities including Birmingham, Durham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, and the Arab Open University.
