Assistant Professor

Dr. Naqeeb Ur Rehman

Biography

Dr. Naqeeb is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Previously, he held various academic positions in the private and public sector universities. He is a passionate academic researcher in the field of applied economics. He has a firm belief that the synergy between teaching and research is complementary to the high quality of curriculum development, which induces creativity and critical thinking at the university level and beyond.

Regarding his research goals, his curiosity lies in navigating intriguing research questions in the areas of economics of innovation, regional economics, small and medium-sized enterprises, and the digital economy, using both micro- and macro-level data analysis methods. In his research work, his main source of inspiration comes from the Keynesian school of thought by using theories at the micro-and-macro levels. Presently, he is exploring multiple research areas such as the impact of public funds on regional productivity; innovation, real wage growth and productivity nexus;  measuring the synergies between firms’ internal and external knowledge sources. In 2023, he received £10,000 research grant as a principal investigator from WIUT-UoW (London) collaboration fund.

In addition to his contemporary research goals, he has been invited in the prestigious international conferences organised by the College of Europe (Belgium), University of Warsaw (Poland), Asian Development Bank Institute (Japan), Otto Biesheim School of Management (Germany), etc. In his paper presentations,  his main objective is to identify economic pitfalls and devise effective policy tools to minimise the societal cost in general (including consumers, firms, and regions) through timely public-private interventions. To transmit research skills across wider audience, he delivered guest lectures to the students from University of Salerno (Italy), Handong Global University (South Korea), academic staff from Tashkent Institute of Finance, Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile), and employees from various other public and private institutions in Uzbekistan & Albania. In 2022, he was awarded the Doctor of Sciences (DSc) from the Supreme Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
