Dr. Turki Nabieh Baroud is the Dean of the KFUPM Business School (KBS) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He previously served as the Founding Chairman of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Baroud obtained his B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2012) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from KFUPM, followed by a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, USA, in 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Emmanuel Giannelis, Vice President for Research and Innovation at Cornell.
His research has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Desalination, Carbon, Journal of Power Sources, and ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering. Within three years of completing his Ph.D., Dr. Baroud served as PI/Co-PI on several industrial research grants totaling around $1 million, with his group’s share reaching approximately $600,000.
Dr. Baroud’s professional focus lies in pushing the boundaries of science and technology by designing new materials for clean water, renewable energy, and sustainability. His work emphasizes porous functionalized membranes for desalination and water treatment, non-precious electrocatalysts for CO₂ conversion, and advanced nanomaterials for drug delivery.
