Abdullah Alotaibi is a finance and economics researcher specializing in emerging market finance, foreign direct investment (FDI), and macroeconomic policy. His work examines how capital flows influence long-term growth, inflation dynamics, and financial stability in natural resource–dependent emerging economies. He focuses on the institutional and policy conditions under which FDI contributes to sustainable development rather than macroeconomic volatility.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, where he graduated with a concentration in Business Analytics. His academic training integrates international finance, development economics, and applied econometrics, with an emphasis on policy-relevant empirical research.
He has gained experience in financial regulation and development finance through roles at the Capital Market Authority and the OPEC Fund for International Development. He is part of the first cohort of the Emerging Professors Program at KFUPM and is currently a Senior Graduate Assistant teaching senior-level finance courses in Financial Institutions and Islamic Finance.
