Dr. Yichuan Wang

Biography

Yichuan Wang is a Professor of Marketing in the Department of Management and Marketing at the KFUPM Business School, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. He holds a Ph.D. in Business and Information Systems from Harbert College of Business, Auburn University and brings global experience from his prior academic appointments at the University of Sheffield and Newcastle University and visiting professor positions at the University of Washington, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Lumière University Lyon 2, and the Beijing Institute of Technology.

His research lies at the intersection of digital marketing and information systems in the healthcare domain, with a specific focus on scaling emerging technologies across multilevel and inter-organizational settings. His work appears in premier outlets, including the Journal of Operations Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Product Innovation Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Social Science & Medicine, and the British Journal of Management. His scholarly contributions have earned him multiple prestigious accolades, including the Top Cited Article Award from the British Journal of Management (2023) and the Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Paper (2022), and the Clarivate “Highly Cited Researcher” in 2022 and 2025.

Dr. Wang actively shapes the future of digital technology research. He is the co-founder of the Sustainable Horizons in Future Technologies (SHIFT) network, a global consortium of leading digital labs, and the founder of the International Conference on Digital Health and Medical Analytics (DHA). Furthermore, he has served as a mini-track chair for the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) since 2020. He also holds prominent editorial roles, serving as a Senior Editor for The DATA BASE for Advances in Information Systems, an editorial board member for Industrial Marketing Management, Enterprise Information Systems, and the Journal of Enterprise Information Management.

Beyond his scholarly output, Dr. Wang is deeply committed to academic mentorship and industry transformation. He has successfully guided 10+ Ph.D. students to completion, guiding them to secure promising positions in academia and industry. Bridging the gap between theory and practice, he is at the forefront of Generative AI (GenAI) innovation. His team developed DeepManager (available on the Microsoft Edge store), an innovative GenAI-powered application designed to assist customer service managers in addressing customer complaints through prompt-free interactions, human-in-the-loop capabilities, and theory-integrated frameworks. Furthermore, his pioneering work on “Compassionate AI” is actively making a real-world impact in Africa, where the GenAI is being deployed to assist doctors by generating critical, context-aware medical questions during patient consultations.
